Safety Enhancements

This project proposes to provide safety enhancements at the following locations: 1. Southern State Parkway westbound at the North Corona Avenue interchange in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County.   The proposed changes include eliminating the westbound Southern State Parkway Exit 15S (Corona Avenue southbound) exit ramp, widening the Exit 15N (Corona Avenue northbound) ramp to accommodate both the northbound and southbound traffic, installing a new traffic signal at the end of the Exit 15N ramp at its intersection with Corona Avenue 2. NY25 (East Jericho Turnpike) at Dix Hills Road and Broadway in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County.  The proposed changes include changing the alignment of Dix Hills Road and Broadway at their intersections with NY25 to create two signalized intersections and adding right turning lanes on Broadway and Dix Hills Road. .

Original Contract Completion Date - This is a contractual date,at the time the Contractor is Awarded the contract, representing when the Contractor is obligated to complete all of the work required in the contract and will no longer have a presence within the highway Right-of-Way.

Estimated Substantial Completion Date - This is the day the public (including vehicles and pedestrians) has full and unrestricted use and benefit of the facilities both from the operational and safety standpoint.
