Description

THIS CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE WILL ALSO SUPPORT FUTURE ELECTRIC FERRIES TGI WILL ACQUIRE AND/OR THE CONVERSION OF ITS EXISTING TWO DIESEL FERRIES TO PLUG-IN ELECTRIC PROPULSION. THE PROJECT INCLUDES A RAPID CHARGING SYSTEM TO CONNECT VESSELS TO THE SHORESIDE POWER SOURCE, A SHORESIDE BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM (BESS) TO STABILIZE THE DEMAND ON THE ISLAND¿S POWER GRID AND SUPPORT RAPID CHARGING OF VESSELS, AND SHORESIDE EQUIPMENT TO MANAGE THE FLOW OF ELECTRICITY BETWEEN THE GRID, BESS, AND VESSEL; AND THE DUCT BANKS, CABLES, TRANSFORMERS AND OTHER ASSOCIATED STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AND SUPPORT THE SYSTEM.
