Description
This project will expand Region 11's Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) network through most of the Clearview Expressway (CVE) and a section of the Grand Central Parkway (GCP) in eastern Queens. The project will add ITS elements to serve both highways. These include closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, variable message signs (VMS), and new gantries. There will also be a new permanent conduit system installed to support these ITS elements, with a single mode fiber optic trunk cable installed for the entire length of each highway. Expanding the fiber network will bolster redundancy and resiliency through diversified communication pathways. This project will also enhance data sharing capabilities, improve traffic monitoring, and facilitate coordinated responses to incidents.
