RT 7 / RT 23 / MAPLE STREET, CITY OF ONEONTA, INTERSECTION RECONSTRUCTION
Project ID No. 930725 , Contract Number D265369
Description
This project reconstructs the intersection Route 7 (aka Main Street), Route 23 and Maple Street into a roundabout configuration. City of Oneonta, Otsego County.
Issue Description:
The roundabout preliminary design does not require ROW purchase for the footprint of the new intersection. Easements could be required simply to reconstruct or alter existing sidewalks. Low cost pedestrian safety improvements on the Lettice highway should be scoped in conjunction with this project. Jim E. confirmed that a sidewalk could be placed on the shoulder of the bridges (loading wise). The median can be narrowed to maintain two travel lanes or the section can be reduced to a single lane thru the bridges and widened out for the intersections at either end.
