ULSTER CO BOICE MILL RD OVER FALLS MILL BROOK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

This project will replace the structure that carries Boice Mill Road over Falls Mill Brook in the Town of Rochester in Ulster County. The work will include replacement of concrete abutment footings with new poured abutments to prevent further stream-bed erosion and scouring; the full replacement of the steel superstructure, new poured concrete abutment seats to accommodate prefabricated steel girders, precast wing-walls and rip rap bank stabilization, and a new higher box beam guide rail system anchored on both sides for pedestrian and bicycle safety. Work also includes new steel bridge decking (to replace current timber deck) and asphalt overlay. The new bridge will retain the same width as the existing, with modest shoulder paving improvements at either end to divert runoff away from the sides of the bridge decking and accommodate safer two-way traffic for larger vehicles.
