Route 46 over Erie Canal Bridge (BIN 4025690) Replacement Project

This project will repair or replace the bridge carrying NYS Route 46 over the Erie Canal  in the Town of Verona, Oneida County.

Issue Description:
The existing structure consists of 3 spans.  the middle span is a Pin & Hanger suspended from the cantilevered ends of the end spans.  The structure cannot be rehabbed because the abutments are not on piles and soil conditions cannot support the load of new superstructure.  A new structure on piles is required.

Project Status

• The current status of the project is In Development.
• The Bid Opening is expected to be in Fall 2027.
• Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2027.
• Construction is expected to be completed in Fall 2028.

The project cost is approximately $7,000,000 .
