Drainage Improvements

This project proposes improvements to the drainage systems at various locations to maintain their reliability and integrity and help assure the continued safety of the traveling public. The locations included are:  1. Wantagh State Parkway at NY27 (Sunrise Highway) in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County. Install various drainage structures and clean existing structures.  2. Sunrise Highway South Service Road from Livingston Avenue to Carlls River in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County. Repair/replace pipe system.  3. NY27 (Sunrise Highway) from Hubbards Path to Carleton Avenue in the Towns of Babylon and Islip, Suffolk County. Replace basins and clean pipe.  4. Sagtikos State Parkway/Sunken Meadow State Parkway from Northern State Parkway to NY25 (Jericho Turnpike) in the Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County. Clean, repair and replace various drainage system structures.  5. NY25 (East Main Street) at Elton Street in the Town of Riverhead, Suffolk County. Install new leaching basins and perforated pipe.

Project Status

• The current status of the project is In Development.
• The Bid Opening is expected to be in Winter 2026/2027.
• Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2027.
• Construction is expected to be completed in Fall 2028.

The project cost is approximately $24,000,000 .
