Safety Improvements

This project proposes to extend acceleration lanes to help improve motorist safety and meet current design standards at the following locations: Town of Hempstead, Nassau County: Meadowbrook State Parkway at Zeckendorf Blvd (Southbound Acceleration Lane), Southern State Parkway at Eagle Avenue (Westbound Acceleration Lane). Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County: Northern State Parkway at Willis Avenue (Westbound Acceleration Lane). Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County: Northern State Parkway at NY 135 (Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway)(Westbound Acceleration Lane), Northern State Parkway at South Oyster Bay Road (Eastbound and Westbound Acceleration Lane). Town of Islip, Suffolk County: Sagtikos State Parkway at Pine Aire Drive (Southbound Acceleration Lane), Robert Moses Causeway at NY 27 (Sunrise Highway) North Service Road (Northbound Acceleration Lane), Robert Moses Causeway at NY 27 (Sunrise Highway) South Service Road (Southbound Acceleration Lane), Robert Moses Causeway at NY 27A (Northbound and Southbound Acceleration Lane). Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County: Sagtikos State Parkway at NY 454 (Veterans Memorial Highway) (Southbound Acceleration Lane), Sagtikos State Parkway at Northern State Parkway (Southbound Acceleration Lane), Sagtikos State Parkway at I495 North Service Road (Northbound Acceleration Lane), and Sagtikos State Parkway at Vanderbilt Motor Parkway (Northbound Acceleration Lane).
