NY27 Oakdale Merge Interchange Impvts

This project is located at the Oakdale Merge, Sunrise Highway (NY27) in the Town of Islip in Suffolk County. The proposed work includes: - restore the pavement riding surface to a smooth and distress free condition by milling and resurfacing the existing pavement. - improve highway drainage - opening of the median barrier on Sunrise Highway (NY27) between Pond Road and Oakdale-Bohemia Road to allow emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance, to access opposite travel lanes during emergency situations - operational improvements such as: closing the first eastbound Sunrise Highway (NY27) South Service Road entrance ramp to the mainline just east of the Connetquot Avenue overpass; strip delineators on the vertical faces of center median and roadside concrete barrier; additional plowable markers in the pavement to work in concert with reflectors/delineators; upgrade deficient guide rail within the project limits; replace/upgrade reference markers; ramp metering at the following westbound entrance ramps before the park: (1) Pond Road to westbound Sunrise Highway (NY27), (2) Ramp from Sunrise Highway (NY27) North Service Road to westbound Sunrise Highway (NY27) (approximately 1,600 linear feet east of Pond Road), (3) Ramp from Sunrise Highway (NY27) North Service Road to westbound Sunrise Highway (NY27) (approximately 600 linear feet east of Oakdale-Bohemia Road).
