NY27 Median Barrier RMC to 5th Ave
Project ID No. 005903 , Contract Number D265130
Description
This project proposes to replace the existing box beam guide rail in the median of NY27 (Sunrise Highway) from Exit 41 (Robert Moses Causeway) to Exit 43 (5th Avenue) in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County. The new median barrier will consist of a concrete barrier with 4 foot high chain link fence installed on top. The existing chain link fence between the Sunrise Highway mainline and the north and south service roads will also be replaced with a six foot high chain link fence. The taller median barrier and chain link fencing on both sides of the highway will deter pedestrians from attempting to cross the highway, potentially resulting in less accidents.
