NY347 & NY112 Intersection Reconstruction

Project ID No. 005421 , Contract Number D262168

Description

This project is part of the NY Route 347 safety, mobility and environmental improvement project presented at the January 29, 2009 open house. The limits of work on NY Route 347 are from Jayne Boulevard to Davis Avenue, in the town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County. This project proposes to construct a jughandle along Rose Lane / Canal Road / Sylvan Lane in the southeast quadrant of NY Route 347 and NY Route 112 to relieve traffic congestion at these intersections. The proposed improvements along NY Route 347 include three travel lanes in each direction, raised medians, left turn lanes, and continuous sidewalk on the north side and a separate shared-use path for bicycles and pedestrians on the south side. NYSDOT is cooperatively working with the town of Brookhaven in their development of a small park in the southeast quadrant of the NY Route 347 and NY Route 112 intersection. This park would provide a greenway stop to the bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as a recreation area and green gateway to the local community
